Flamenco is a complex art that goes beyond dancing. The depth of the singing, the melody of the guitar and the rhythm of percussion (mostly palmas and cajón) also make up the scenery of the flamenco world. If we look at history we see that it all began with the singing, then came the dance and finally the accompaniment of guitar and percussion were included. And each part has its particular beauty and importance within this richly detailed art. Each palo (style) has a unique atmosphere, a unique rhythm, a unique story.
The origin of flamenco is uncertain, but it can be said that it came together in southern Spain at the end of the 18th century and, with the passing of time, conquered the world. It was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in November 2010 and in recent years is giving way to a rich intermingling with other types of dance, as well as physical and theatrical expression, without losing the strength, magic and beauty of traditional flamenco.
